Frequently Asked Questions

What is the biome order in Valheim?
The Valheim biome order is: Meadows → Black Forest → Swamp → Mountain → Plains → Mistlands → Ashlands. Deep North is the 8th biome coming with Valheim 1.0. Each biome must be explored in sequence — resources and boss drops from one unlock survival in the next. See the progression roadmap →
What biome comes after Swamp?
After the Swamp comes the Mountain biome. You need Bonemass's Wishbone to find silver veins buried underground, and frost resistance mead or Wolf Armor to survive the freezing temperatures. Mountains represent the silver tier — craft a full Wolf Armor set before fighting Moder. Moder guide →
What is the hardest biome in Valheim?
The Ashlands is currently the hardest biome. It features relentless enemy spawns, Charred Fortress siege events, environmental fire hazards, and the final boss Fader. Mistlands is second hardest — its dense fog, vertical terrain, and powerful Seeker enemies make it a major skill check. Ashlands guide →
When should I enter Mistlands?
Enter the Mistlands after defeating Yagluth in the Plains. You need the Wisp Fountain (built with Yagluth's Torn Spirit drop) to craft a wisp light for navigation. Bring fully upgraded Padded Armor, Black Metal weapons, and the best available food. The Feather Cape is essential — without it, the vertical terrain will kill you faster than any enemy.
