Yagluth Boss Guide — The Goblin King of the Plains
Yagluth is the fifth Forsaken boss and the final boss of the original Early Access Valheim. This towering goblin king in the Plains wields devastating fire magic — meteors, fire beams, and massive AoE explosions. With Barley Wine for fire resistance and a Silver Sword for spirit damage, you can take him down. His Forsaken Power provides resistance to all elemental damage.

1. How to Summon Yagluth
[ AdSense Ad Unit — Responsive Rectangle ]
Location
Yagluth's altar is a giant stone formation of fingers reaching from the ground in the Plains. Find it via runestones at Fuling Villages or near stonehenge-like structures. The altar itself has five slots for Fuling Totems.
Summoning Requirements
| Item | Quantity | How to Get |
|---|---|---|
| Fuling Totem | 5 | Drops from Fuling Berserkers and Fuling Shamans in the Plains. Found in chests inside Fuling Villages. Cannot be teleported. |
2. Stats & Weaknesses
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Health | 10,000 HP |
| Damage Type | Fire (all attacks), Blunt (melee) |
| Weak To | ✨ Spirit — Silver Sword deals bonus spirit damage |
| Resistant To | Fire (heavily resistant), Frost (moderately resistant) |
| Immune To | Poison, Stagger |
3. Attack Patterns
| Attack | Description | How to Counter |
|---|---|---|
| Meteor Storm | Raises hand and calls down multiple fire meteors in a large area. Massive fire damage. Covers wide radius. | Run to the edge of the arena. The meteors target a large circle around his position — you can outrun the radius. Barley Wine mitigates damage if you're caught. |
| Fire Beam | Fires a concentrated beam of fire in a sweeping arc. Very high damage if you stay in it. | Sprint sideways (perpendicular to the beam). Do not try to block — fire beam goes through shields. |
| Fire Nova | Close-range AoE explosion of fire. Quick wind-up. | Recognize the animation (hands close together) and roll away. The radius is smaller than the meteor storm. |
| Melee Claw | Close-range physical attack. Rare because Yagluth prefers ranged fire attacks. | Block or parry. Lower priority concern compared to his fire arsenal. |
4. Best Weapons & Strategy

Recommended Weapons
| Weapon | Why |
|---|---|
| Silver Sword ⭐ | Best weapon. Spirit damage exploits Yagluth's weakness. High base slash damage. Fully upgraded to Level 4. |
| Frostner | Solid choice — blunt damage (neutral) + frost slow effect. Despite his frost resistance, the slow still applies. |
| Blackmetal Sword | Highest raw slash damage. No spirit damage, but sheer DPS is competitive. Good if you don't have Silver Sword. |
| Draugr Fang + Frost Arrows | Ranged option. Frost Arrows slow him, making his attacks easier to dodge. Don't use Fire Arrows — he's fire-resistant. |
Strategy
- Barley Wine is MANDATORY: Yagluth deals almost exclusively fire damage. Barley Wine (Fire Resistance Mead) is non-negotiable. Drink before the fight, bring 3 bottles.
- Use the altar fingers as cover: The giant stone fingers around the altar block his fire beam. Circle around them to break line of sight.
- Fight from range when possible: Frost Arrows from a Draugr Fang let you stay out of melee range while chipping him down. The frost slow debuff makes his attack animations even slower.
- Watch for the meteor wind-up: When Yagluth raises one hand to the sky, he's calling meteors. Sprint to the edge of the arena immediately.
- Clear the area of Fulings: Deathsquitos and Fulings patrol nearby and WILL join the fight if not cleared first. Spend 10 minutes clearing a wide radius around the altar.
5. Pre-Fight Preparation Checklist
- ✅ Silver Sword (Level 4) or Blackmetal Sword / Frostner
- ✅ Padded Armor set (Level 2+) — highest pre-Mistlands defense
- ✅ Blackmetal Shield — for blocking melee attacks
- ✅ 3 Barley Wine (Fire Resistance Mead) — mandatory
- ✅ 3-5 Medium Healing Mead
- ✅ 3 best foods: Lox Meat Pie + Blood Pudding + Fish Wraps (or Serpent Stew)
- ✅ Draugr Fang + 80+ Frost Arrows — for ranged kiting
- ✅ Clear all Fulings and Deathsquitos in a wide radius
6. Forsaken Power & Rewards

| Reward | Details |
|---|---|
| Yagluth Trophy | Mount on Sacrificial Stones. His Forsaken Power is unique — elemental resistance instead of utility. |
| Yagluth Thing | Placeholder/"torn spirit" item. Used for future progression — drops from Yagluth's remains. Historically unlocked access to Mistlands-tier content. |
| Forsaken Power: Yagluth | Provides resistance to Fire, Frost, and Lightning elemental damage for 5 minutes. 20-minute cooldown. Excellent for elemental-heavy biomes (Mountains, Ashlands) and boss fights with elemental damage. |
7. After the Fight
- Collect Black Metal Scrap from Fulings to fully upgrade your gear
- Craft Padded Armor to maximum level
- Head to the Mistlands biome — the next major progression step
- Craft Wisplight to navigate the Mistlands' dense fog
- Prepare for The Queen (6th boss)
